BATHURST – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan finally got into the win column after falling short in 17 straight games to start the season as they defeated the Moncton Wildcats 5-3 on Friday night.
Anderson MacDonald got things started 6:32 into the game with his seventh of the season. Logan Chisholm picked up the lone assist. 61 seconds later Shawn Element got a back hand shot past Charles-Antoine Lavallee to make it 2-0. Remy Anglehart capped of the first period with his 10th of the season in the final minute giving the home side a 3-0 edge after one period.
The second period saw the Wildcats claw back to within one as Jacob Hudson and Jeremy McKenna both capitalized on bad changes by the Titan. Through 40 minutes the score remained 3-2. Late in the final frame Logan Chisholm stuffed a shot past Lavallee from below the goal line on the powerplay to put the Titan back in front by two with assists going to Evan MacKinnon and Harijs Brants. Element sealed the deal forcing a turnover and finishing in the empty net for a 5-3 victory.
Tristan Berube stopped 35 shots to earn second star honors while MacDonald and Element were named first and third star respectively.
