Titan raise over $6,000 for former employee Janice Boake

The Acadie-Bathurst Titan are pleased to announce, that thanks to the generosity of the community, they have raised $6,017 for former employee Janice Boake.

Boake is undergoing rehabilitation at the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation in Fredericton following a tragic accident earlier this summer which left her paralyzed.

A GoFundMe account was created for Boake by her daughter Aliya Ouellette Boake in order to help her mother and their family, and the Titan hoped to raise money for Boake during this difficult time. Gilles Cormier, Executive Director, explains that the Titan had to do its part: ”For all that Janice has done for the team during her stay with us, it was unthinkable for us to do nothing to help.”

Barbara Nazar, Boake’s mother, said it “means a lot” to their family. “We’re very grateful, very thankful to the Titan for being able to, you know, do this. They didn’t have to yet they did,” said Nazar. “We’re very grateful, we’re grateful to the community and very thankful for all the donations large or small. Every one of them means a lot to us.”

On August 24 a total of $4,235, was raised via community donations at the door before the team’s pre-season home game against the Moncton Wildcats. Companies in the region also made anonymous donations.
