Titan fall short against Islanders

BATHURST – They put together a much better performance than their previous game however it was the same result for the Acadie-Bathurst Titan as they fell short against the Charlottetown Islanders 3-2.

11 minutes in the Islanders got on the board. Titan netminder Felix-Anthony Ethier lost track of the puck and Zachary Beauregard was able to poke it over the line to open the scoring. Five minutes later Shawn Element finished on a great individual effort muscling his way to the net and beating Matthew Welsh to even the game at one goal apiece. The captain’s sixth of the year was unassisted. It remained tied after one period.

The Titan took the lead early in the second period when Alexis Dube sent a beautiful cross-crease pass to Logan Chisholm and he tapped it in for his third of the campaign. Yannic Bastarache also picked up an assist on the play, the first point of his career. They held the lead for 10 minutes before Cedric Desruisseaux tied it for the Islanders. The scored through 40 minutes of play was 2-2.

Xavier Fortin scored the game winning goal at 8:01 of the third period beating Ethier five-hole to lift the Islanders to a 3-2 victory. Despite a solid showing, the Titan came out on the losing end for the 17th game in a row.
