Titan end road trip with loss to Remparts in high scoring affair

QUEBEC – Coming in on the tail end of a three-game trip through the province of Quebec, the Acadie-Bathurst visited the Centre Videotron to take on the Quebec Remparts.

The Remparts got on the board with back-to-back goals near the middle of the first period including the teddy bear toss goal from Andrew Coxhead at 6:32 on the powerplay. The other tally came from James Malatesta at 8:24. After one it Quebec in front 2-0 while also outshooting the Titan 12-10.

In the second period, there was a lot to talk about. Seven goals were scored in the period with Acadie-Bathurst finding the back of the net four times and the Remparts three. It all started with Yan Aucoin’s seventh of the season 1:32 into the frame. Gabriel Montreuil and Felix Bibeau responded with back-to-back goals at 2:28 and 4:15 giving the Remparts a 4-1 cushion and ending Tristan Berube’s night. He was replaced by Felix-Anthony Ethier between the pipes. Two minutes later Cole Huckins roofed his eighth on the powerplay followed by Shawn Element’s team-leading 16th of the season to make it 4-3 at 11:21. Mathieu Desgagnes jumped on a loose puck in front and tied the game at 12:47. Coxhead would add his second of the game before the end of the period to put the Remparts ahead 5-4 through 40 minutes of play.

The third period was one to forget for the Titan. Xavier Fillion, Hunter Holmes, and James Malatesta each found the back of the net as the Remparts walked away with an 8-5 win. Shawn Element scored the lone third period goal for the visitors, his second of the game. He also added an assist in the game and was named second star for his efforts.
