Titan drop game one to Islanders

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan fell short Sunday afternoon in game one of the second round of the 2022 President Cup playoff series against the Charlottetown Islanders. The home team pulled away with a 4-1 win over the Titan at the Eastlink Centre.

Charlottetown’s goal scorers were William Trudeau, Brett Budgell, Keiran Gallant and Patrick Guay. The Islanders scored all four goals in the second frame at the 7:55, 9:50, 15:52 and 18-minute marks. Jacob Melanson scored the lone goal for the Titan at 10:33 in the third period.

By the end of the game the Islanders outshot the Titan 28-18 and scored on two of their seven power plays, while Acadie-Bathurst didn’t register any goals on their three power plays.

The Titan entered the second round after defeating the Halifax Mooseheads in five games in the first round. Charlottetown entered the series after three-straight wins over the Moncton Wildcats to advance to the second round.

Charlottetown and the Titan will faceoff tomorrow at 7 p.m. for game two before the series shifts to Bathurst on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre for game three. The box office will be open tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for season ticket holders to purchase their tickets for the second round. Tickets for round two will be open to the general public on Tuesday online and when the Box Office opens at 11 a.m.
