Slow start costs Titan in loss to Sea Dogs

BATHURST – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan played their second game of the 2019 pre-season Tuesday night as the Saint John Sea Dogs visited the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.

Saint John opened the scoring early with a goal from Jeremie Jacob at 1:41. Two minutes later James White would score the eventual game-winner to make it 2-0. Josh Lawrence would add another for the Sea Dogs with under three minutes to play in the first period to give the visitors a 3-0 lead going into the second.

A powerplay tally from Maxim Cajkovic with 5:19 remaining in the second pushed their lead to 4-0. The Titan finally got on the board 39 seconds into the final frame when Cole Rafuse got the puck alone in front of Mathias Savoie and flipped the puck past the Sea Dogs netminder. Despite having six powerplays on the night, the home team fell 4-1 to the Sea Dogs. Tyriq Outen allowed four goals on 18 shots in 40 minutes of work while Matthew Dunsmoor was between the pipes for the final 20 minutes stopping all 10 shots he faced.

Next up for the Titan is a quick trip down the road to Lameque where they’ll host the Charlottetown Islanders at the Arena des Iles Thursday night.
