Second period goals lift Sagueneens past Titan

CHICOUTIMI – After picking up a 5-3 win over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar to begin their three-game road trip Wednesday night, the Titan were back in action Friday evening against the Chicoutimi Sagueneens on the big ice at the Centre Georges-Vezina.

The visitors got off to a good start with Evan MacKinnon scoring the games first goal at 8:29 assisted by Liam Leonard and Anderson MacDonald. That would be the only goal scored in the opening 20 minutes as Acadie-Bathurst took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

In the second period it was all Sagueneens. Artemi Kniazev tied the game 3:46 in and Tristan Pelletier gave Chicoutimi the lead 2-1 at 8:20. The Sagueneens held the visiting side to just three shots in the frame and held the 2-1 lead through 40 minutes of play. Just under eight minutes into the third period Vladislav Kotkov extended their lead to 3-1 with his 11th of the campaign. It stayed that way until the final three minutes as Cole Huckins netted his seventh of the season with 2:03 remaining to cut the Titan deficit to one goal. An unfortunate turnover lead to an empty net goal by Samuel Houde to end their comeback hopes and give the Sagueneens a 4-2 victory.

Despite the loss Tristan Berube made 27 saves and was named second star of the game.
