Sea Dogs score early and often to spoil teddy bear toss night

BATHURST – It was a rough night for the Acadie-Bathurst Titan as they hosted the Saint John Sea Dogs for the annual Teddy Bear Toss game Friday night.

The Sea Dogs opened the scoring 2:29 and never looked back. William Villeneuve got the games first goal followed by tallies from Brady Burns and Matt Gould to make it 3-0 after one. The shots favored the Titan 18-9.

In the second period the visitors further extended their lead as they find the back of the net three more times. Joshua Roy made it 4-0 at 11:41, and that would end up being the game winner. Josh Lawrence and Dawson Stairs each scored later in the frame to give Saint John a big 6-0 advantage through two periods. At the start of the third, Felix-Anthony Ethier took over in goal for Tristan Berube.

Mathieu Desgagnes would score twice in the third period, including the goal to send the teddy bears flying at 5:03, while Shawn Element netted his team-leading 20th goal of the season. However, it was too little too late for the Titan as they fell 6-3 to the Sea Dogs in their final home game before the christmas break.
