Zach Biggar was chosen as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan’s Student of the Month of November for a number of reasons. Since he has joined the Titan in the fall of 2020, the Portage, PEI native has shown a quiet leadership both in the classroom and on the ice.
An honour student at Westisle Composite High School in Elmsdale, PEI, Zach was determined to maintain his good standing academically upon graduation. Through hard work and resolve, he was able to do this. He successfully completed a number of pre-university courses through Bathurst High School/NB Virtual High School. This task was certainly not a simple one due to the COVID restrictions, but Zach met these challenges with tenacity.
The defenseman has always shown a positive attitude towards his education and is a self-motivated learner. He not only works well on his own, but often works with other teammates in a collaborative fashion. His mature demeanor makes him a positive influence on and off the ice. Furthermore, because of his ability and commitment to hockey, Zach earned an invitation the New Jersey Devils rookie training camp this past summer.
This season, Zack is registered with Open Acadia and is taking an Introduction to Business course, as well as a Disability Sport course. He has almost completed one of these university courses and is on track to complete his second course on schedule. His marks are very promising as he continues to persevere in these challenging times.
Zach is a pleasure to work with and can take great pride in being named the Titan’s Scholastic Player of the Month for November.
