Wildcats score five in the first to defeat Titan

BATHURST – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan went head-to-head with their New Brunswick rivals the Moncton Wildcats in a rematch of the teams home opener when the Wildcats spoiled the Titan’s banner raising with a 3-1 come from behind victory. A rough start for the home side proved to be too much for the Titan to overcome as Moncton left the K.C. Irving Regional Centre with another win.

With a five-goal outburst in the opening 20 minutes the Wildcats set themselves up to win early. Brady Pataki, Mika Cyr, Jordan Spence, Jonathan Aspirot, and Jack Tucker all scored in the first 10 minutes of the game to make it 5-0 Moncton. Former Wildcat Mark Grametbauer got the hook at that point after allowing those five goals on 10 shots and was replaced by Tyriq Outen.

It was the Titan who scored first in the second period as Michal Ivan found the back of the net for the second time this season. Daniil Vertiy and Brandon Cianflone picked up the assists at 12:26. However, that wouldn’t stop the bleeding. Moncton added a powerplay tally from Jakob Pelletier just over a minute later to regain a five-goal edge 6-1. They would maintain that lead through 40 minutes before Alexander Khovanov and Nicolas Kingsbury-Fournier scored in the third period to make it an 8-1 win for the visiting Wildcats.
