VICTORIAVILLE, Que. – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan began a six-game road trip Thursday night with a stop at the Colisee Desjardins to battle the Victoriaville Tigres.
Midway through the opening frame the Titan got their first powerplay opportunity of the night and they took full advantage. Ethan Crossman notched his fifth of the campaign to give the visitors a 1-0 edge at 11:45. Adam Holwell and Reilly Pickard got the assists on the play.
Five minutes later Dawson Theede doubled the Titan advantage. The captain Jeffrey Viel was the setup man as Theede potted his eighth of the season making it 2-0. Keenan MacIsaac picked up the secondary helper. Not only did they score, but the Titan shut the Tigres down in the first 20 minutes keeping them to just one shot on goal to finish the period with a 17-1 lead on the shot count.
Theede got in on the offence again at the 12 minute mark of the second period forcing a turnover in the offensive zone and finding Cole Rafuse in the slot for a 3-0 Titan advantage. It would remain a 3-0 score through 40 minutes with the Titan outshooting the Tigres 29-8.
Just over five minutes into the third period, one of the newest members of the Titan got his first career goal. With a delayed penalty coming to the Tigres, Michal Ivan banged in a rebound for his first tally in the QMJHL to push the lead to 4-0. Theede and MacIsaac notched the assists. The Tigres got on the board at 12:05 of the period as Jerome Gravel scored a powerplay goal.
With under two minutes to play, Ethan Crossman deflected MacIsaac’s point shot past Cote-Cazenave for his second of the night capping off a 5-1 victory for the Titan to start the road swing. Reilly Pickard stopped 20 shots for the winning side, while Tristan Cote-Cazenave made 33 saves.
