Titan split back-to-back with Screaming Eagles

SYDNEY, N.S. – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan road a lengthy losing skid over to Cape Breton Island this weekend to tangle with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in a back-to-back Saturday and Sunday.

In the first game on Sunday night the Titan were heavily outshot but came out on top. Daniil Vertiy opened the scoring with his first QMJHL goal at 3:18 follow by Marc-Andre LeCouffe at 12:22 to tie it 2-2 after one. After a scoreless second period we went into the third still deadlocked at two. Logan Chisholm, a local product, scored the game-winner at 16:38 to lift the Titan to victory 3-2. Mark Grametbauer turned aside a whopping 53-saves in the win and earned first star.

Sunday afternoon was a different story all together. Cape Breton scored two goals nine seconds apart at 11:10 and 11:19 to jump ahead early. Egor Sokolov made it 3-0 after one with a goal at 18:29. The Titan got goals from Noah Dobson at 6:46 and William Champagne at 13:13 to climb to within a goal 3-2. However, the Screaming Eagles tallied two more quick ones at 16:09 and 16:26 to go up 5-2. Liam Kidney added one 6:19 into the third to give the home team a 6-2 victory.
