CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI. – The Titan concluded the pre-season schedule Sunday afternoon with a road game against the Charlottetown Islanders. In their final tune-up before Friday’s home opener, the Titan had a great showing scoring twice in the first and second period en route to a 4-0 victory.
It was late in the opening period when the Titan broke the ice. Domenic Malatesta took a feed from Justin Ducharme and fired it past Matthew Welsh to give the visitors a 1-0 lead at 14:55. Noah Dobson picked up the secondary assist. Three minutes later, Ethan Crossman scored his ninth of the pre-season to double the advantage to 2-0. Samuel L’Italien and Keenan MacIsaac added helpers on the play.
Just under four minutes into the second, Liam Murphy added to the Titan lead with an unassisted marker making it 3-0. L’Italien pushed it to 4-0 in the last minute of the period on a man advantage with Murphy and Adam Holwell getting assists.
Reilly Pickard made 26 saves to get the shutout as the Titan finished the pre-season schedule with a 4-1-1 record.
The Titan pre-season schedule began on August 23 when they visited the Saint John Sea Dogs at Harbour Station. Mario Pouliot’s group didn’t get the result they wanted falling 6-0.
Two days later, on August 25, they got their revenge beating the Sea Dogs 9-4 on home ice. Next up, the Titan took on the Charlottetown Islanders at home and came out with a 6-1 victory.
Last weekend, the Titan split a home-and-home series with the Rimouski Oceanic. First they topped the Oceanic 3-2 in Matane, Quebec on September 8. The Oceanic took the second game 3-2 in a shootout on September 10 in Tracadie-Sheila.
The Titan now have a week to practice and prepare for their home opener which happens this Friday, September 22 against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Puck drop from the K.C. Irving Regional Centre is set for 7pm. Join us to take advantage of what will mark the start of the Titan’s 20th season in Bathurst.
