BATHURST, NB – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan announced Monday they have extended the contract of head coach Mario Pouliot for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons.
Under Pouliot’s leadership over the past three seasons, the Titan has enjoyed a steady progression that has seen the team achieve their first winning season in six years, all the while developing several talents who have either graduated to the professional and university ranks, or are on the cusp of reaching those levels.
The native of St-Hyacinthe, QC joined the Titan ahead of the 2014-2015 season after serving as an assistant coach with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and was previously the head coach of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. Named to the Quebec Midget-AAA Hockey League’s Hall of Fame in 2011, Pouliot continues to bring a wealth of knowledge behind the bench and will continue to do so for another two seasons.
“We always had a plan when we started this process three years ago,” said Sylvain Couturier, Titan general manager. “We stayed with and respected this plan, and we will finish what we started together. We feel that extending Mario two extra years is well deserved and will more than help us complete the process.”
