VICTORIAVILLE, Que. – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan hit the road this weekend for a three game road trip through La Belle Province with stops in Baie-Comeau, Chicoutimi, and Victoriaville. Game one of the trip was not pretty, an 11-4 beat down at the hands of the Drakkar, but the last two games were better despite the Titan failing to pickup a win in either one.
Friday night was a very ugly scene at the Centre Henry-Leonard the Drakkar pounded the Titan 11-4. The trio of former Titan’s on the Baie-Comeau roster took it to their old squad as Samuel L’Italien picked up a goal and two helpers, Keenan MacIsaac had three assists, and Ethan Crossman chipped in with a pair of apples as well. William Champagne scored twice for Bathurst while Evan MacKinnon and Anderson MacDonald added singles.
It was a little better showing Saturday night when the Titan visited the Chicoutimi Sagueneens however the visitors would fall 3-0. Christopher Farmer, a former draft pick of the Titan, score a pair and Zachary Lavigne netted the other. Mark Grametbauer was stellar in goal making 39 saves and earning third star. The road trip wrapped up Sunday evening and the Victoriaville Tigres were the opposition.
Mathieu Desgagnes scored his 10th of the season four minutes into the game to give the Titan their first lead of the weekend. It remained 1-0 until 24 seconds into the second period when Evan MacKinnon extended it to 2-0 on a powerplay. Ian Smallwood and Jesse Sutton notched the assists. Jerome Gravel got the Tigres on the board at 11:38 and Anthony Poulin tied it at 13:51 to erase the Titan lead. Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the third so we need overtime. An early penalty to Felix-Antoine Drolet in the extra frame was costly as Mikhail Abramov would rip home the winner at 1:27 to give the home team a 3-2 win. Grametbauer was named third star for the second game in a row with 39 saves.
