Titan even President Cup final series with shutout win

BOISBRIAND, Que. – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan put together a much better performance in the second game of the Rogers President Cup final than they did in game one. Three goals in the third period and a solid defensive showing helped the Titan even the series 1-1 with a 4-0 road win over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

After a scoreless first period Noah Dobson received a beautiful pass from Samuel Asselin and beat Emile Samson to open the scoring 3:30 into the middle frame. Jeffrey Viel notched the secondary assist on the goal. Antoine Morand, who left the game bloodied in the first period after crashing into the end boards, returned to the game for the final 40 minutes and made his presence felt.

Just 1:48 into the third period the Anahiem Ducks prospect roofed a wrist shot past Samson to extend the Titan lead to 2-0. Helpers went to Adam Holwell and Keenan MacIsaac. With under three minutes to go and the Armada net empty, Morand scored from inside his own defensive zone making it a 3-0 Titan advantage. Ethan Crossman rounded out the scoring with laser of a shot with 24 seconds to play. Evan Fitzpatrick stood tall making 27 saves for his second shutout of the 2018 post-season and earned second star honours.

Three Stars:

1st Star – Antoine Morand
2nd Star – Evan Fitzpatrick
3rd Star – Alexander Katarinakis
