Titan complete comeback to take 3-2 victory over Oceanic in Matane

MATANE, September 8th 2017 – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan visited the Colisée Béton Provincial in Matane, Quebec on Friday night to take on the Rimouski Oceanic in pre-season action. The contest would be the first of two exhibition games between the two teams this weekend.

Despite being outshot by the Titan, Rimouski would get on the board first on a powerplay goal late in the opening period. Alex-Olivier Voyer found the back of the net at 13:20 to give the home side a 1-0 lead, with assists going to Dominic Cormier and Nathan Ouellet.

It would remain 1-0 for the duration of the second period with the Oceanic outshooting the Titan 12-9 in the frame.

Early in the third period, Samuel L’Italien started a surge for the Titan tying the game with his second of the pre-season. Marc-Andre LeCouffe and Adam Holwell drew assists on the goal at 3:14. Two minutes later Liam Murphy gave the Titan their first lead of the night on the man advantage with L’Italien and Justin Ducharme picking up the assists at 5:47.

The scoring would not stop there for the Titan, however. Domenic Malatesta set up Cole Rafuse at 8:46 of the final period for the eventual game-winner to make it 3-1. First overall pick Alexis Lafreniere cut into the lead with four minutes to play but that was as close the Oceanic came.

Veteran netminder Reilly Pickard made 27 saves in the win, while Colten Ellis stopped 26 shots in a losing effort.
