Two-goal third period propels Titan past Armada in game three
BATHURST – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan returned home Tuesday to host the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in game three of the 2018 Rogers President Cup final. In front of a sold out crowd at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre, the Titan came out on top to take a 2-1 series lead.
Midway through the opening frame the Titan broke the ice on the man advantage. Noah Dobson got the puck at the right point to fired a shot on goal that was redirected by German Rubtsov and into the net. Olivier Galipeau also got an assist on the goal. Galipeau doubled the lead with under a minute to play in the period with a powerplay tally of his own. The goal was assisted by Dobson and Antoine Morand at 19:23.
A powerplay goal from Joel Teasdale got the Armada on the board at 12:48 of the second period and Alex Barre-Boulet tied it 2-2 at 15:41. Antoine Morand scored the eventual game winner with just 34 seconds to play in the second period making it 3-2 Titan through 40 minutes. Adam Holwell and Mitchell Balmas notched helpers.
12:37 into the third period Samuel L’Italien extended the home team lead finishing off a great passing sequence with Galipeau and Justin Ducharme on a shorthanded 3-on-1. The captain Jeffrey Viel completed the scoring with his 12th of the playoffs at 15:28 on an beautiful wrist shot. Samuel Asselin picked up the lone assist. Evan Fitzpatrick was solid in goal making 26 saves in the victory.
