BATHURST – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan are happy to announce today that forward Cole Rafuse has been named the teams new captain. Forwards Jesse Sutton, Marc-Andre LeCouffe, and Mathieu Desgagnes will serve as assistant captains.
Rafuse is currently in his fourth season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He was drafted in the second round, 20th overall, by the Val-d’Or Foreurs in 2015 and was traded to the Titan halfway through the 2015-16 season the six-foot-one, 104-pound forward. Rafuse has spent the last three and a half seasons in Bathurst including last year’s championship run. Serving as an assistant captain for the first half of this season the Kingston, Nova Scotia native has 18 points in 37 games.
Sutton is a 20-year-old forward from Mount Pearl, Newfoundland who was acquired by the Titan from Chicoutimi last week for Liam Murphy. Originally drafted in the third round of the 2014 draft, Sutton spent three seasons with the Quebec Remparts before being traded to the Sagueneens this past summer. The fourth-year veteran has 25 points in 37 games this season.
LeCouffe is in his second season with the team after they selected him in the ninth round of the 2015 draft. The Tracadie-Sheila, New Brunswick native was part of last year’s championship team and currently has 20 points in 38 games after totalling just 8 in 40 games last season.
Desgagnes, 18, was also recently acquired from Chicoutimi by the Titan in exchange for a third round pick. The Verdun, Quebec product has eight points in 22 games this season including four points in six games with the Titan. Mathieu was a second round pick, 24th overall, by the Sagueneens in 2016.
