Oceanic return the favour, comeback to top Titan 3-2 in shootout

Tracadie-Sheila, September 10th 2017 – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan were back in action Sunday afternoon in Tracadie-Sheila playing host to the Rimouski Oceanic in pre-season play. For the second time this weekend, a game between these two squads ended with a 3-2 final score.

It didn’t take long for the Titan to get on the board in this one. The powerplay unit took full advantage of their first opportunity of the game as Noah Dobson buried one to put the home team ahead 1-0. Adam Holwell and Jordan Maher picked up the helpers on the goal at 1:30.

Dawson Theede doubled the Titan advantage at exactly the midway mark of the second period with another powerplay goal and his third tally of the pre-season. Maher and Dobson got on the scoresheet again with the assists.

Rimouski came out firing in the third period and finally found the back of the net. Dmitry Zavgorodniy set up Carson MacKinnon 51 seconds into the frame to cut their deficit in half. A little over four minutes later, Yannick Bertrand potted his first of the pre-season to even it at two goals apiece. Alexis Lafreniere grabbed the lone assist on the shorthanded marker.

Five minutes of 3-on-3 overtime solved nothing, so we headed to the shootout. The sixth shooter for Rimouski, Nicholas Blachman would score the only goal and the game winner, giving the Oceanic a 3-2 shootout win.

Jimmy Lemay made 15 saves in 65 minutes of play to lead his team to victory, while Reilly Pickard and Dominic Tmej combined for 23 saves for the Titan.
