Murdaca makes 35 saves in loss to Islanders

CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan travelled across the Confederation Bridge for a Tuesday night show down with the Charlottetown Islanders at the Eastlink Centre. Unfortunately, it was a game to forget for the Titan as the home side scored twice in the first period and added two more in the third to skate away with a 4-0 win.

Keith Getson opened the scoring 2:35 into play on a 2-on-1 rush burrying a Pascal Aquin feed past Joseph Murdaca. The shorthanded goal was also assisted by Olivier Desjardins. Ten minutes later Matthew Grouchy doubled the Islanders lead on the man advantage with his eighth of the season. Assists went to Gregor McLeod and Saku Vesterinen.

Sam King and new Islanders acquisition Liam Peyton scored 45 seconds apart in the third period to account for the 4-0 final. King’s fifth of the year came at 2:05 while Peyton notched his first career QMJHL goal at 6:50. Joseph Murdaca and Matthew Welsh made 35 saves apiece, with Welsh coming out with the win.
