Morand nets a pair as Titan move into tie for first

SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Friday night the Acadie-Bathurst Titan faced off against the Saint John Sea Dogs for the final time this season and the third time in the past seven days. Much like the first two encounters, the Titan skated away with a victory but not before the Sea Dogs could give them a few headaches.

Cole Reginato scored at 16:13 and Anthony Boucher potted another at 19:21 of the first period to get the Sea Dogs out to a 2-0 lead after one. Olivier Galipeau scored 50 seconds into the second period to get the Titan on the board, with assists going to Noah Dobson and Jeffrey Viel.

Just under four minutes later Nathan Larose restored the Sea Dogs two-goal lead at 4:01. Antoine Morand and Adam Holwell found the back of the net at 8:35 and 11:28 respectively to even things up 3-3. Saint John regained the lead at 16:14 on a goal from William Poirier but Antoine Morand’s second of the night tied it 37 seconds later. Galipeau and Liam Murphy notched the helpers. Viel broke the tie with 32 seconds remaining in the second period with a wrap around to make it 5-4 after 40 minutes.

A powerplay goal from Mitchell Balmas 7:10 into the third period would be the final tally of the game giving the Titan a 6-4 victory and putting them into a tie for first in the Maritimes division with Halifax. The Mooseheads visit the Titan tomorrow afternoon at 4:30pm.
