For Titan goaltender Anthony Dumont-Bouchard, victory tasted all the sweeter over his former team the Drummondville Voltigeurs as he backstopped the Acadie-Bathurst Titan to a four-to-one victory on Sunday afternoon at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.

Seeing action in his fifth straight game, Dumont-Bouchard stopped 28 of 29 shots, coming just 19 seconds of posting his second shutout in a Titan uniform and fourth of the season.

Christophe Boivin opened the scoring 7:25 into the contest with his 32nd of the season off a chip pass from Antoine Morand who reached his stick around a Voltigeurs defenceman who he was in a foot race with, redirecting the puck onto Boivin’s stick who then beat goaltender Olivier Rodrigue between the pads to make it 1-0 for the Titan. Luc Deschênes was credit with an assist, setting up the play with a stretch pass from behind the Titan net.

Zachary Malatesta would double the Titan’s lead with his eighth goal on the year off a drop pass by fellow defenceman Noah Dobson with 5:14 remaining in the opening period. Samuel L’Italien also picked up an assist. Less than a minute later, Olivier Desjardins would fire a shot into traffic to give the Titan a three-goal advance, scoring his fourth of the season from Adam Holwell and Jordan Maher. Despite being out-shot eight-to-six in the first period, the Titan took a three-to-nothing lead into the break.

The game saw no scoring in the second period, and it would take six minutes and 39 seconds of play in the third period before the Titan would score a fourth goal, coming on the power play. Félix Boivin tapped home a backdoor goal for his 11th of the season off a cross-crease pass from Jordan Maher on a play set up by Félix’ older brother Christophe.

Late in the third period as the game began to get out of hand, the Titan were assessed numerous penalties resulting in a double man-advantage for the Voltigeurs in which they broke Dumont-Bouchard’s shutout with 19 seconds to play. The goal was credited to Nicolas Guay who provided a pinch of solace to the Voltigeurs who narrowly avoided being shut out for the second-straight game.

Bouchard’s victory improves his record to 14-8 on the season while Rodrigue allowed four goals on 26 shots, but saw his record fall to 11-21.

Dawson Theede once again made his presence felt on the ice, landing five solid hits while firing two shots on net and earning a plus-one rating.

The acquisition of defencemen Adam Holwell and Zachary Malatesta continues to pay dividends as Holwell recorded an 11th point in 19 games since joining the Titan and has posted a plus-16 rating while Malatesta now has five goals and 10 assists in 19 games for his new squad.

Christophe Boivin inches closer to yet another career milestone. With a goal and an assist Sunday afternoon, he now sits with 195 points and is one point off his career best 67 points in a single season. Boivin holds a place in a number of team record lists, placing sixth in goals (91), tenth in assists (104), sixth in points (195) and sixth in games played (241).
