BATHURST – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan returned to the K.-C.-Irving Regional Centre on Friday night having lost three straight. They looked to end the skid as they took on the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada for the first time since last year’s semi-final series.
Midway through the first period Dawson Theede opened the scoring thanks to a nice pass from Liam Murphy. Samuel L’Italien also picked up an assist on the play. The Armada responded a minute later as Michael Kemp scored from the blue line. Anthony Poulin would score before the end of the period to give the Armada a 2-1 lead after one.
After a scoreless second period, the two teams found the back of the net several times in the third. First, Keenan MacIsaac beat Francis Leclerc on a powerplay to tie the game at two. The Titan got another man advantage moments later and Logan Chisholm, in his QMJHL debut, scored his first goal in the league making it 3-2 for the home team.
Felix Meunier doubled the Titan lead 35 seconds later with his second of the season. Marc-Andre LeCouffe got the lone assist. Just after the midway mark, Joel Teasdale scored on a rebound to bring the Armada back within one. Three minutes later the Armada got a powerplay of their own and Antoine Crete-Belzile tied the game.
In overtime, it took just under two minutes for Crete-Belzile to score the game winner for the visitors. Leclerc stopped 33 shots in the win, while Pickard turned aside 17 for the Titan.
