Big comeback falls short in 6-5 loss to Mooseheads
BATHURST – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan returned home for their third game in as many days to take on the division-leading Halifax Mooseheads Sunday afternoon. After going down 5-1 in the first 40 minutes of play, the Titan came flying back in the third period to eventually tie the game at five apiece before Halifax scored late to take it 6-5.
Ben Higgins got things going for the visitors just 4:33 into the game to make it 1-0. A little under four minutes later Raphael Lavoie doubled the Halifax lead to 2-0. Mooseheads captain Maxime Fortier added to their edge at 13:18 as they took a 3-0 advantage into the break.
48 seconds into the second period Lavoie’s second of the game widened the gap to 4-0. However, two minutes later Cole Rafuse got the home side on the board. The goal was originally given to Marc-Andre LeCouffe but was eventually credited to Rafuse. Late in period Connor Moynihan restored the Mooseheads four goal cushion 5-1 at 14:02 and it remained that way through 40 minutes.
