Armada take game one of President Cup final

BOISBRIAND, Que. – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan opened the 2018 Rogers President Cup final on the road as they took on the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in a heavyweight battle between the QMJHL’s top two teams. A slow start proved costly for the Titan as they gave up two quick goals early in the game and were never able to climb back.

Charles-Antoine Giguere opened the scoring 1:14 into action to make it 1-0 for the home side. A few minutes later Luke Henman jumped on a rebound and extended the Armada lead to 2-0. With no goals coming in the second period, the two teams went to the dressing room with the scoreboard reading 2-0 through 40 minutes of play.

Two minutes into the third period Thomas Ethier added another one for the Armada giving them a three-goal edge. The Titan got on the board at 6:23 after a Samuel L’Italien hit on Alexandre Alain caused a turnover and Justin Ducharme found the back of the net. Adam Holwell also picked up an assist on the play along with L’Italien. However, that is as close as they would come as the Armada responded a minute later with Alex Barre-Boulet making it 4-1. That is how game one would end as the home team took a 1-0 series lead.
